Spring is in the air, heralded by the sharp whistle of bats and clubs as student athletes practice their swings. In addition to Track and Field, Baseball, and Softball, the spring of 2023 witnesses a return of CIF Golf to Julian High School.

Our spring coaching staff includes Coach Paul Cruz returning for Track and Field, Coach Jose Blanco and Assistant Coach Jay Baylock returning for Baseball, Sammi Costa returning for Softball, recruiting Joe Liggett as the Softball Assistant Coach,  and bringing in fresh Coach Andreas Fernandez and Assistant Coach Thomas Szampruch for Golf. These coaches have hit the ground running to recruit players for their teams and getting geared up and set for a full season of great hits and new records.

According to CIF rules, eligible students have a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) on their last report card. For Julian High School, spring sports eligibility will be based on the Trimester 2 final grades. All student athletes must turn in  a completed athletic packet and have a current sports physical on file. There is no time like now to participate in a high school sport.

Julian High's sports teams are self funded, so if you see the coaches and the athletes hosting a fundraiser, step up to the plate and pitch in toward the good things these athletes will accomplish this year. The Golf team has begun receiving great donations of golf bags, jackets, tees, and balls. If you can donate new or gently used sports equipment such as batting gloves, cleats, or running shoes, please contact either the sport's head coach or the High School office.
